Today, Samsung has released a major firmware update for its new Galaxy Watch 4 series. The new version brings plenty of new features including four new watch faces, GIF support for Photo+ face, new gesture controls, improved Samsung Health & fall detection. Well, it is not the only thing to cheer. Samsung & Strava tied up together to offer a free two-month trial of premium features for Galaxy Watch users. The new & existing Galaxy Watch users that installed Strava can avail themselves of the offer for the next two months.
The best part of this offer is, it is available for all the Galaxy Watch series devices. Along with Watch 4 series, the users of the original Galaxy Watch, Watch Active, Active 2 & Galaxy Watch 3 can get the premium subscription benefit of this fitness app. The official Strava app is already available in the Galaxy Store since 2018’s Galaxy Watch, so you may have already used it before.

In New Update Samsung Added Couple of Features to Galaxy Watch 4
Since the launch, Galaxy Watch 4 duo is getting regular updates every week. In the last ‘CUJ2’ update, Samsung fixes minor issues, and the update is now rolling out in major countries. Meanwhile, a new firmware version has been released in South Korea for Galaxy Watch 4 & Classic. In this version, not Samsung has squashed known issues, but the company has added some new features. The firmware version R8**XXU1DUJA gets four new location watch faces. The new faces have been added to the Watch Face section of the Galaxy Wearable app.
Now you can set GIF as your watch face by using the My Photo dial. It has added to the demand of users. The users have also requested multiple photo selections in the face like the PhotoWear Photo app. The multiple photo display for the watch face hasn’t been introduced this time, though the Samsung rep said it is in the review. It has finally fixed the heart rate tracking issue, which had appeared in the ‘BUI5’ version.
Further, it has improved Samsung Health HR & Stress measurement. The sensitivity option has been added to the fall detection function. It also brings new gestures to launch apps or specific features. Currently, users can use gestures to answer calls and dismiss alerts & calls. The new gestures will be welcomed on Watch 4. The support for a Mute motion has been added, which syncs with a paired phone during calls.
The essential packs in watch faces and communication have also been enhanced. It enhances the usability of AR Emoji, Together, Bitmoji, Rnimal, and Cute Character. Finally, the company looked at known bugs to improve Galaxy Watch 4. The new firmware version is 477MB in size, and currently rolling out in South Korea for both LTE & Bluetooth variants. Why Camera Controller Missing on my Galaxy Watch 4?
After buying Galaxy Watch 4 or Watch 4 Classic, you may have searched for the official Camera Controller app, and were disappointed by not seeing it. Since launching, the app is part of the watch, then why you are not getting it in the first place. You are not alone, many users on social platforms like Reddit groups, Facebook, Samsung Community, and even on Twitter are asking the same question. Why Camera Controller app is not available in Galaxy Watch 4?
In short, most smartphones don’t support the controller app, that’s why the company disabled it from those phones. Like many other Samsung services, the app is limited to selected devices. If you are using a non-Samsung phone, then the app will not support it. Then what about Galaxy phones? Well, the sad part is, even it is Samsung’s official app, most of the Galaxy phones didn’t get support.
As per Samsung, right now, only Galaxy S series models can use the Camera Controller app on their Galaxy Watch 4 duo. In that too, Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, and later models get the service. It means you can use it on Galaxy S9, S10, S20 & S21 series devices.
On Tizen-based Galaxy Watch Active 2 & Watch 3, you can use the app with Galaxy S9 & above, Galaxy Note 9 & above, and Galaxy Z Fold & later models. The controller app on Wear OS 3-based Galaxy Watch 4 only works with a few Galaxy S flagship models.
In a future update, Samsung may open the app for more Galaxy smartphones including upper Galaxy A devices like Galaxy A52s & Galaxy A72. We can’t say anything about app compatibility with non-Samsung phones for now.

Samsung Rep Says Google Assistant is Not Compatible with Galaxy Watch 4
Last month, Samsung launched Galaxy Watch 4 & Watch 4 Classic with Wear OS 3 version. It received most of the Google services including Google Fit, Google Play & Google Maps. Some of the apps like Google Assistant & YouTube Music was missing at the launching, but later the Music app made its way. the Google Assistant was always in the question of whether it will come to the Watch 4 series. Now, you may not like the latest answer from Watch Software Manager in South Korea.
In the answers to the questions of user, the Watch Software manager at Samsung Community responded that Google Assistant is not compatible with Galaxy Watch 4. When customer asked when Google Assistant will join Bixby service on the Galaxy Watch 4, Watch Software manager gave this answer. It raises the question, will Samsung bring Google Assistant support for Galaxy Watch 4 series in the future? The manager further said they are in talks with Google to provide a better experience. As per the previous reports, Google Assistant was supposed to come at a later date this year.

Samsung & Google never officially said anything about Google’s voice assistant service on the Watch 4, but many sources claim it will come later. Right now, the Samsung Bixby service is the only option for users to make voice commands. The Play Store for Wear OS has some unofficial voice Assistant apps that you could try. We will inform you if there is a change in this answer by the Samsung team.

Samsung Pushed New Software Updates for Galaxy Watch 4 & Buds Pro
The new Galaxy Watch 4, Watch 4 Classic & Galaxy Buds Pro are receiving new software updates from the company. These new wearables have already got the latest firmware last week, though Samsung has sent it again, The reason behind the new firmware is to improve the specific functions on these Galaxy wearables. On the Galaxy Watch 4 & Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, the piece of code will improve the touch bezel performance. The Galaxy Watch 4 comes with a digital bezel & the Classic one comes with a physical bezel.
On both firmware, it mentioned touch bezel improvement, so exactly don’t know which part the company has enhanced. I never heard any complaints from users about the touch bezel, but Samsung wants to push it to the next level. The Galaxy Buds Pro has received fixes and improvements to the call quality. After installation of new firmware, users will get better call quality and a reduction of noise during calls.
Finally, Samsung has made sure any minor or known bugs don’t affect the performance of these Galaxy Wearables. The Galaxy Watch 4 & Watch 4 Classic receives firmware number R8**XXU1BUI5, and it weighs 160MB in size. The Galaxy Buds Pro gets firmware version R190XXU0AUI2. The newest updates are currently available to download in South Korea.

Samsung PPT Controller app Now Available for Galaxy Watch 4
In 2017, Samsung had launched the PPT Controller app for the Gear & Galaxy watches. Since then, it has been part of every Tizen smartwatches. This year, the company changed the track and joined Wear OS 3 platform with the help of Google. In the beginning, some apps were missing from Galaxy Watch 4 duo, but now slowly they are returning. Samsung PPT Controller is also one of those apps, which are successfully landed on the new Wear OS. The app is now available to download in the Play Store for Wear OS.
It is an essential app for many users who want to control PowerPoint presentations from the wrist. Users can operate PPT slides using the app. You can go to the next slide or previous slide and also stop them. The physical bezel on Galaxy Watch 4 Classic or the digital bezel on Watch 4 can also be used to control the slides. It shows the presentation time and also enables vibration alert when the presentation comes to an end or at the set interval time.

Sleep Cycle app with Snore Detection Launched for Galaxy Watch 4
Official Sleep Cycle app has today launched for Galaxy Watch 4 & Watch 4 Classic smartwatches. The app brings plenty of free & premium features to the Samsung watches along with Snore detection to improve sleep scores. Samsung & Sleep Cycle AB has made an official partnership to provide world-class sleep-related services to Galaxy watches. And as a partnership, the app has launched exclusively for Wea OS 3 powered Galaxy Watch 4 series. Samsung had also teased the Sleep Cycle in its Galaxy Watch 4 event and hints how its snore detection function will work.
As per the official announcement, it has integrated snore detection feature with the Samsung Health app. Though it is integrated with Samsung Health, you should install official app on your phone to see tracked data & to use other features. Users can use Snore detection function from the Sleep section in Samsung Health or from the app. It will record their daily snoring patterns and view them in the app. The app also provides an intelligent alarm clock & sleep tracker to wake you up when feeling energized. In the premium segment, you can unlock sleep aid, sleep notes, wake-up mood, online backup & export data options.

Samsung Walkie Talkie App Launched for Galaxy Watch 4
Samsung has finally launched its official Walkie Talkie app for the new Galaxy smartwatches. Currently, the app supports on new Galaxy Watch 4 & Watch 4 Classic. Samsung was planning to introduce it while launching fourth-gen watches, though delayed it. With the app, you can communicate with your friends on different channels, and send them short voice messages. To communicate with another person first, you have to send them an invitation with the Invite button, and later, send them a voice message whenever you want.
The app will also let you join any public channels in the range. If you know any public channel, then you can send a message. If any person is on the same channel, then he might respond to you. The Samsung Walkie Talkie also brings all your friends together to chat on a special channel. To send the voice talk, just tap & hold the button on the main screen, and it will send to the other person. Also, in the group chat, you should ask permission to speak to avoid chaos.
Apple was the first company to bring the official Walkie Talkie app on its smartwatches. Later, we can see third-party apps on the Wear OS smartwatches. Also, third-party apps in the Galaxy Store for Galaxy Watch 3 & previous models. With the Galaxy Watch 4 & 4 Classic, Samsung has come with its own walkie-talkie for the users.
The Walkie Talkie is available to install in the Play Store for the new Wear OS-based smartwatches. It has been spotted in the home country of Samsung, which will soon be available in other countries.

Soon You Can Use Internet Browser & Left Hand Mode on Galaxy Watch 4 Duo
The Galaxy Watch 4 & Watch 4 Classic are now available in major markets with positive responses. With the Wear OS 3 version, users can get plenty of new services, advanced heath features, and loads of new apps. Even recently, the watches received Spotify’s offline music service and the official YouTube Music app. Still, there is room for improvement on the fourth-gen watches. The Samsung Browser and the left-hand support, which were part of previous models are not available on the Watch 4 series.
That’s could change soon, as the Samsung team has promised to bring these essential features for the wearables. Samsung Browser was the only internet browser on the Tizen OS from the company. Maybe, there are not many people who use the internet on the wearable, but most of the users use it to surf the sites on the go. Of course, why not. That’s why Samsung has offered Wi-Fi & LTE services in the first place. The Play Store on Wear OS also has some good-rating or recommended browsers, though they are not comparable with Samsung’s Internet Browser.
The left-handed mode is the other function that will soon come to the new smartwatches. There is no answer to why the company hasn’t launched it in the first place. Now, after the user’s request, Samsung has decided to bring it back. It is good for those users who use another arm, and the left-hand mode gives them easy access. Also, users who want to switch to the other hand for some reason can do this seamlessly. We will inform you when both these functions come to the Galaxy Watch 4 series.

Spotify Offline Playback Feature Rolls Out for Wear OS Including Galaxy Watch 4
As promised by Spotify, the offline playback feature is now rolling out for Wear OS smartwatches. In the Google I/O event and later in Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 4 event, we got the hint to get the feature soon. Early than expected, the company has dispatched a needy function to the listening users. It will let you download any playlists or podcasts on their smartwatch and directly listen to the song via Bluetooth headsets or earbuds. It will allow you to leave behind your phone while jogging or in an outdoor workout.
The Spotify Offline Playback feature is available for Premium as well as free users but with restrictions. The free users can also use it, but they can only download Podcasts. To download music playlists & songs users need to upgrade to the Spotify Premium subscription. The process is simple. Download the Spotify app from Play Store, and choose the songs or albums you want to get offline. Finally, tap on the Download button, and it will be saved on your watch to listen to in the future.

As we checked on various forums, Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, TicWatch Pro 3 & Oppo Watch are currently receiving the app update. The other Wear OS watches received it in the US & in some European countries. And Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch 4 & Watch 4 Classic are getting in South Korea. The new Galaxy watches still have to reach many users in other regions, so they might also receive it when they get their smartwatch.

New Galaxy Watch 3 Update Enhances SpO2 Function
In the next month, Samsung will announce the next generation Galaxy Watch 4 & Watch 4 Classic wearables. Both the devices will get loads of features and the new Wear OS platform. Even though the company is preparing to launch upcoming Galaxy Watches, it hasn’t forgotten its current watches. The latest firmware for Galaxy Watch 3 is now releasing to enhance the overall quality. It mainly targets SpO2 or blood oxygen measurement to increase its accuracy and give better results.
The Galaxy Watch 3 is the first wearable from Samsung to deliver SpO2 function, and in each update, the company tries to improve it. According to the changelog, the software brings voice guidance support or voice coach function. The voice guidance feature is available for Galaxy Watch Active 2, when the company released it in the end of last year. If you are new, then it gives voice guidance in your exercises through a Bluetooth headset, when you connect it to the smartphone.
Finally, the company has improved system stability & reliability, so you could get the most from your watch. The newest firmware version R845FXXU1DUE4 has been released for Watch 3 in India. It is 77MB in size, and you can install it from the Galaxy Wearable app.
