Gear S3, Galaxy Watch & Watch 3 Receives New Updates
The six-year-old Samsung Gear S3, four-year-old Galaxy Watch and two-year-old Galaxy Watch 3 are now receiving new firmware updates. In the last couple of weeks, Samsung is releasing new firmware updates to its older devices. Now after Galaxy phones, the Gear & Galaxy Watches are getting it. After more than two years, Samsung has updated its Gear S3 smartwatch which has launched in 2016.
The changelog mentions that the company has fixed the GPS issue on Gear S3. Along with Gear S3, the popular first-gen Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch 3 are having the same changelog that fixes GPS issues.
The original Galaxy Watch had launched in 2018 and Galaxy Watch 3 is from 2020. For a long time, there weren’t any updates for these models. Especially, the Gear S3 had its last firmware in May 2020, when Samsung brought some Galaxy Watch Active 2 features to Gear S3 & Gear Sport.
Galaxy Watch also received its last massive update in early 2021, when it got some Watch 3 features. Galaxy Watch 3, on the other hand, gets a new version with some minor fixes, but it still waiting for a major update with newly added features.
The firmware version R800XXU1GVG1 is available for Galaxy Watch, and the firmware version R845FXXU1EVG1 is for Galaxy Watch 3. There is no information about the Gear S3 firmware version, but thanks to a Reddit user who shared the information.

Galaxy Watch & Watch Active Receive major Features & Faces
The Galaxy Watch 4 features and watch faces are now reaching the original Galaxy Watch & Galaxy Watch Active. Recently, the firmware was released for Watch 3 & Active 2 wearables, and now Samsung seeded it on older watches. Both devices have received a major update after months of waiting, but it is worth waiting. Samsung has brought new watch faces including some fresh-looking designs. It has also enhanced the user experience by adding new features to the core.
Samsung has added the Group challenge widget to participate in the health competition with your friends. Also, there is a slight improvement in calorie consumption while performing exercises based on HR. The sensor has bumped with more accuracy and sliced recognition time in automatic workout modes. The real-time ongoing icon has appeared on watch faces for walking/running exercises to pause, resume, or stop it. Like Watch 4 & Watch 3, the finish timer will appear at the end of workouts.
In the Calendar feature, users can synchronize data for the last 1 year. The changelog is the same for both Galaxy Watch & Watch Active smartwatches. It is now rolling out in the US, Canada, India, Argentina, Brazil, and most of the European countries. New Galaxy Watch & Watch 3 Updates Improve Wi-Fi & Messaging App
The first generation Galaxy Watch & the newest Galaxy Watch 3 smartwatches are now receiving improvement updates. The latest version has been released to enhance the Wi-Fi & Messaging app performance on the watches. The firmware version identifies by R800XXU1FUD1 is rolling out for the first-gen Galaxy Watch. The Galaxy Watch 3 is getting firmware version R840XXU1BUD1. The new watch is getting this update in the US, Canada, India & South Korea, and 2018’s model is currently getting it only in the home country.
As per the changelog, it has improved messaging app stability for a better experience. With the improved Wi-Fi stability, users can expect better connectivity without any hiccups. The changelog for Galaxy Watch 3 further mentions, the improved system stability & reliability to enhance overall quality. These latest firmware do not bring any new feature to the watches, which were added in the last versions.
In the last version, Galaxy Watch 3 has received SmartThings Find support, the Hand Wash app, and improves auto workout modes. Update for Galaxy Watch Brings Plenty of Watch 3 Features (Update: Watch Active too)
In the latest update, the original Galaxy Watch or 2018’s model has received some Galaxy Watch 3 features. It is a major update and brings lots of features to this older watch to keep it in the race. We can start with a smart notification improvement which now lets you see the images in the incoming messages. Previously, images in the notifications & messages were not supported on the watch, but now you can see WhatsApp or other app images. It was first introduced on Galaxy Watch Active 2 and the new Watch 3 also support it.
It also supports AR Emoji & Bitmoji on the watch to use in the conversation. It added voice guidance in the workout to cumulative distance and heart rate when recording the automatic section of running/biking exercise. Now, users can listen to the voice guidance over the Bluetooth headset.
Finally, stabilization code has been applied to the Galaxy Watch to enhance its speed and other factors. The firmware version R810XXU1FUB6 is now rolling out in the US & South Korea . It is 291MB in size, and soon it will hit the other regions. This software update may also release for Galaxy Watch Active smartwatch in any moment.

Galaxy Watch Active 2 Update Fixes AOD & Calorie Calculation Issues
The new Samsung update is now seeding on the latest Galaxy Watch Active 2 smartwatch. The latest version fixes two major issues on the smartwatch to enhance the user experience. The new firmware version R820XXU1BSK4 is now rolling out for Galaxy Watch Active 2 Bluetooth model in South Korea. The first fix into the software is for AOD off issue. Some users have complained about the Always-On display screen that goes off in some situations.
Many users use Always-on display feature while doing workouts as well as some other activities so this feature is helpful in such times. Samsung has now corrected heart-rate based calorie calculation by fixing the issues. In the last few updates, the company is continuously improving health tracking on its smartwatches & trackers and accurate calorie calculations are one of them. Galaxy Watch & Galaxy Watch Active Gets Active2 Features
Samsung is now releasing a new firmware update for the Galaxy Watch Active & Galaxy Watch smartwatches. It activates the ‘Touch Bezel’ function on the Galaxy Watch Active on the smartwatch. The Galaxy Watch Active was the only Samsung smartwatch that launched without a touch bezel feature. Now with the new software update, Samsung is finally enabling the function to allow users to navigate using finger swipe around the bezel.
The latest firmware version R500XXU1CSK3 is rolling out in the US & South Korea, soon it will enter to the other regions. Apart from that, Samsung has introduced Galaxy Watch Active 2 features to the Galaxy Watch Active & Galaxy Watch models.
The software version R810XXU1CSK2 and R800XXU1CSK2 are now releasing on Galaxy Watch LTE & Wi-Fi models. The company has improved Bixby’s voice, which is now able to tell you to start exercise routines and time differences between the two cities. It now also supports British English, French, German, Italian & Spanish languages.
The watch face customization has now come to these two smartwatches. The users can now take a picture and turn it into the watch faces. Samsung has introduced 24 new sub-dials and complications along with 17 already available. You can now use new emojis on the smartwatch to make better conversation.
The Low Heart Rate feature is now supported on Galaxy Watch as a part of the heart monitoring suite. Microsoft Outlook Now Available for Galaxy Watch Active 2
Update: Microsoft has launched a dedicated Outlook app for all Samsung smartwatches. This month on October 7th, Microsoft announced support for Galaxy wearables, where you could receive and reply to the incoming Outlook emails. Now Microsoft Outlook is a dedicated app and available in Galaxy Store with all the original features. The app is currently landed in the US and in the near future it will release in all other countries. You can download it from Samsung Galaxy Store through a paired smartphone or from the Galaxy or Gear smartwatch.
As promised, Microsoft has announced Outlook support for Samsung Gear & Galaxy watches, including new Galaxy Watch Active & Watch Active 2. In the new update for Outlook for Android, Microsoft released support for Samsung wearables. Now users can get emails from their Outlook account right to their smartwatches. Users can view the message and act on them accordingly. Before the update, Samsung smartwatch & other wearable users were enabled to get the notifications from any Microsoft apps, but now Outlook is exceptional to it. It will hit alert on the Galaxy Watch when there is a new email from the Outlook.

Samsung Witnessed 121% Smartwatch Growth in NA
The latest report from Canalys shares important data about the performance of the wearables market in North America(NA). It reports that in the second quarter of this year, 7.7 million units were shipped in the NA market. Compared to the 5.6 million units of the previous year, the current year witnessed a 38% rise in the smartwatch market. A glance at the report indicates that Apple Watch dominates the market with 2.9 million units sold out in this quarter.
Compared to the same time period of last year, Apple experienced a 32% improvement in its shipments. However, Apple saw a slight decline in its market share in the Continent, compared to Q2 last year.
Fitbit gains the second position in N. America’s wearable band market with a 24.1% market share. It sold out 1.9 million units in the quarter and experienced an 18% improvement in shipments year over year.
Samsung Sees 121% Smartwatch Growth
Samsung doubled its shipments and delivered 0.8 million units, compared to the 0.4 million units of Q2 last year. This drastic improvement in Samsung’s shipments is the result of its fitness focussed Galaxy Watch & Watch Active series smartwatches.
The South Korean company has a 10.6% share of the North American smartwatch market and occupies third place after Apple and Fitbit. Though the numbers are really strong. It witnessed 121% growth in the North American region, which is way more than any other players in the same continent.
Obviously, the new Samsung smartwatches gained Samsung a significant share in the market and soared its shipments to 121%. In this competitive wearable market, the company which fulfills the customer demand of smartwatches with health-related and other intelligent features in the affordable price range will obviously gain a significant market share.
According to the report, Garmin with a 7% market share placed at 4th position and Fossil Group with a market share of 4.1% has 5th place in the top five. The Canalys notes that smartwatch manufacturers target the price range of $200 to $299 in the Continent. It is clear from the data that 32% smartwatches shipped in the Q2 are from this price range against the 28% of $300 to $399.
Apple Watch offers the best combination of LTE connectivity and app ecosystem which is hard to beat by its rivals. Manufacturers are approaching customers through products with comprehensive features and wide connectivity as well as the best price tag. This is the driving force for the wearable market in the continent.

New Galaxy Watch Update Improves Swim Tracking
The new update for Samsung Galaxy Watch has released in the US & South Korea that improves tracking for swim. Finally, One UI Update Reached to Galaxy Watch LTE 46MM in US & Europe
Last month, Samsung released One UI update to its all three major smartwatches – Galaxy Watch, Gear S3 & Gear Sport, in all regions. But the unlucky ones were Galaxy watch LTE 46MM users although Galaxy Watch 42MM LTE & Wi-Fi models received the latest version. Now finally, Samsung decided to release the latest One UI software to this watch to the users in the US & Europe. There are two different firmware available for these customers. The new firmware R805FXXU1ESE6 is available for European customers, and US customers get the R805USQU1BSE3 version though both receive the same features.
New watch faces to change the look of your watch if you want to change the previous look, and the new animations and graphics will overhaul the whole experience. Among the new features, sleeping mode, daily activity, outdoor swimming will now be added in workout features to check overall progress. Under the Wellness of heart feature, the Samsung watch will notify users if the heart rate measured over the limit.
The new Battery Optimization function has added to enhance battery life on the watch. After the update, you can experience better synching with your paired smartphones. AT&T Releases Tizen 4.0 Update To Gear S3 Frontier & Classic
The AT&T users in US are now receiving new Tizen 4.0 update on Samsung Gear S3 Frontier & Classic smartwatches. Early of this month Verizon has already released this update to its customers and this week Samsung released it all across the world. The latest update will bring the Gear S3 models closer to the Galaxy Watch. The new firmware version is R765AUCU2DSA1/R765AATT2DSA1/R765AUCU2DSA1 and brings Tizen 4.0.0.2 version to the watch.
In the latest version notable features are the improved Samsung Health function, it now supports indoor activities and sleep tracking will keep watch on your health.
