One UI 2.5 Leak Suggests Ads Are Coming on Samsung Phones

The leaked images for the next One UI 2.5 version are suggesting that Samsung will put ads on many stock apps as well as on lock screen. It is a surprise turn from Samsung and its decision to put advertisements in so many places. Ads are not new to Chinese smartphone makers like Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo, and many others. They put ads to make revenue by selling low-cost smartphones. Samsung wasn’t in that race but now it looks like the company has changed its mind to grow the revenue this way. As today one customer sends the leaked image of the lock screen with random ads on it.
The revealed lock screen has ads on it with a 15-second timer. To unlock the device users have to see the ads and even they have to wait for 15 seconds and watch the video ads. I don’t think Samsung will put such restrictions on flagship smartphones like Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Fold & Fold 2, Galaxy S20 & Galaxy Z Flip. The users have spent too much money on these costly devices so it is not fair to show them random ads. On the other hand, Samsung might put these ads on lower Galaxy A & Galaxy M series smartphones, as they come with low prices.
Recently in October, Samsung had given us clue about the ads. Here is what Samsung representative said on the advertisement controversy and user complaints in the last October;
I remember that you left an article saying that the advertisements were uncomfortable. Please understand that banner ad are applied in order to provide better theme services to users through the development of new functions and stable service operation through advertising revenue. We will always try to provide a more satisfactory service.
Today, the Weather app has updated and it shows too many ads inside it. That means in the future many Samsung apps will start to show the ads. The Weather app is also getting the latest Weather UX in On UI 2.5 version. The upcoming One UI 2.5 version will launch with Galaxy Note 20 & Galaxy Fold 2. Later the version will release on Galaxy S20, Galaxy S10, Galaxy Note 10, and some Galaxy A & Galaxy M series devices. We have to see how many of these devices will get third-party ads.
Update (09/06): As SamMobile confirmed with Samsung and dug out more about the news, the company will not introduce ads in One UI 2.5. Not at least on the lock screen. It was the translation error that got lost. For now, Samsung is only applying ads on its stock apps.

Mi Band 5 Images Reveal Stress, Custom DND & Global NFC Functions
Xiaomi has planned to unveil fifth-gen Mi Band 5 on June 11 in China. So far, we know many functions and the changes in the next tracker. We have also revealed that the Mi band 5 will get Amazon Alexa, SpO2, Camera controller & Menstrual cycle functions. Now, we have received some exclusive images and the information about the upcoming Mi Band 5. To make the fitness band more advanced, the company has also added stress & breathing management, custom DND option, and, as we revealed earlier, global NFC function.
We have some exclusive images of the NFC function for the global version, Mi Smart Band 5. Outside China, it will support with Mastercard. This week, Xiaomi has announced Mi Band 4 NFC in Russia that gets Mastercard support to pay at many places. The same treatment will arrive for Mi Band 5 in other countries. You can use the NFC feature to pay at public transport, shopping centers, supermarkets, gas stations, and many other places. Once you connect Mastercard card with the Mi Fit app, then you can use it.
Mi Band 5 NFC Function
As the information we took out, users still can’t receive the phone calls on Band 5. There are only options to reject the calls & silent the phone call. Maybe next time, users will able to accept the calls from the band. The custom DND will allow users to add limited time as per their need like 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours. The custom Do Not Disturb will help users to get day time naps.
Mi Band 5 Avenger Face
For the Avengers fan, Xiaomi has added one new Avenger watch face. There may be more watch faces that the users can download from Band Display Settings in future updates. We have previously unveiled four pre-installed watch faces, and these two new faces show users will get more watch faces on the band itself.

Now here are the leaked images of the next Mi band 5 with the default watch face. The images show Mi Band 5 will carry a larger screen than Mi Band 4. As per the previous report, the tracker has a 1.2-inch colored touchscreen. The next tracker will also capable of the measurement of stress & breathing. The descriptions in the source code describe the band will be able to quantify our stress, and it will guide users to control the breath. We have to wait to see how these two functions will work.
Mi Band 5 will unveil next week, and it will first go on sale in China on June 18. If these all features packed on Band 5, then in the market, it will be one of the most advanced fitness trackers. I guess Xiaomi will not release all the features at once. Some features will release via future updates.

Xiaomi Launched Mi Smart Band 4 NFC Version Outside China
Last year, we have exclusively revealed that the next year Xiaomi will allow users to use the NFC feature on Mi Bands outside China. Now, Xiaomi has launched Mi Smart Band 4 with NFC function for the global customers. Previously, the feature was supported only in the home country with AliPay. With global support, the users outside China can make contactless payments or pay at the local stores. The first country to receive the NFC version is Russia. As per the company’s plan, it will launch in more European regions and later in remaining countries.

We had also first claimed that the next Mi Band 5 will get NFC support on the global version. Now, it also makes clear that the upcoming Mi Smart Band 5 will have NFC support in other countries. In Russia, customers can make contactless payments in shopping centers, supermarkets, gas stations, and other stores. It also supports paying public transports in the country like in a metro or at the bus station. You can see the supported list of transport on the Mastercard website.
At the moment the NFC in the country only works with Mastercard. To link the MasterCard for payments, you must connect the Mastercard bank card with the Mi Fit app & select Russia as your country. In future updates, you may link the tracker with Visa, Google Pay & PayPal accounts. Note that, this is not the update for regular Mi Band 4. To use the NFC function for contactless payments in Russia, you have to purchase the ‘Mi Smart Band 4 NFC’ model. On the purchase, make sure it has an identifier MGW4059RU as both models look the same.
The new NFC model in the country will be selling for 3,990 ₽, where the regular one priced at 2,990 ₽. Xiaomi has the same plan for the upcoming Mi Band 5, as the global version will get Mi Smart Band 5 with NFC function. The sale for Mi Smart Band 4 NFC will start from June 16 from Mi.com & other online retailers. Later, the NFC version will soon launch in other countries. Galaxy Buds+ Update Again Improves Ambient Sound
Samsung’s two new products Galaxy S20 series & Galaxy Buds+, have some issues since the launch. In this situation, the company has tried to enhance the users experiencing with new firmware updates. The Galaxy S20 users have reported camera performance issues in many departments, so they received many updates. The same happens with Galaxy Buds+ since the launching, and from the first update, users get sound quality updates. We have recently covered Ambient sound, wind-free, and white noise issue updates in recent months.
Now, again, the new firmware version R175FXXU0ATE3 is rolling out to enhance ambient sound. In the row, it is the other software released to fix the problem with the mode. For some users, the problem is persistent that they have complained about it on Samsung Community. As per the changelog, the latest firmware has tackled the Ambient Sound issue to increase the sound quality. Samsung Closed S Voice, Find My Car, Car Mode & MirrorLink Services
The S Voice service, along with the other three functions, has been discontinued today by Samsung. The company has previously declared to close these functions on June 1st. As the company said today, all the services have been terminated. Today onward, you can not use S Voice, Find my Car, Car Mode & MirrorLink functions on any devices. It might be the first time Samsung has terminated its numbers of services in a single day. In these services, S Voice was once the glory of Samsung and the leading voice assistant on many devices. The other MirrorLink, Find my Car & Car Mode, was also helpful for many users.
Samsung had introduced S Voice with Galaxy S3 smartphone in 2012 as a personal assistant. Since then, it is part of many flagship smartphones and smartwatches. It was inbuilt on Galaxy S3, S4, S5, Gear S2, Gear S3, Gear Sport, Galaxy Note 2, 3, 4, 5, and some other Galaxy series devices. The S Voice slowly started to disappear when Samsung introduced a more advanced Bixby function in 2017.
Samsung discontinued S Voice service
Now today, most Galaxy smartphones and smartwatches use Bixby. Samsung is now rolling out Bixby on all these devices as a replacement for S Voice. Further, MirrorLink was allowing users to connect their smartphones with their cars. Users could mirror their smartphone display to the head unit of the vehicle. In the Car Mode, users could only use the essential features while driving, such as navigation & streaming. Car Mode was the company’s reply to Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, but it looks like it failed to grab the attention of users.
The last Find my Car, as its name suggests, could find the parked car. The app was only available on wearable devices. With the app, users could connect their car with Samsung wearables, with then using GPS; users can track where you parked it. All these services have now been closed by Samsung. You can not anymore download & install these apps from the Play Store or Galaxy Store.

Gear S3 & Gear Sport Bixby Update Now Available Widely
Samsung started dispatching the latest Tizen version for Gear S3 & Gear Sport smartwatches in more countries. Two weeks ago, when Samsung released this firmware, then initially it was distributed in the US & South Korea. Now this major firmware update is rolling out in other countries and after the confirmation it is now rolling out in UK, Italy, Norway, Argentina & Tanzania. The new firmware will bring Bixby assistant to both watches by replacing the previous S Voice series.
The S Voice is going to shut down on June 1st so the company discontinued it and brought more advanced voice assistant service, Bixby. Apart from that, Samsung has brought some Galaxy Watch Active 2 features to these older models. It includes more emoticons that offer diverse skin tones. The new watch faces will allow you to go back to the screen by just tapping on the main screen.
It has also improved the sleep mode detection feature. Also the Always-on display is enhanced while been charged & when the power saving mode is active. Further, Samsung Health app brings Lap time recording for running & cycling sessions. The new software is available for both Gear S3 & Gear Sport smartwatches. As we mentioned earlier it is available in the UK, Italy, Norway, Argentina & Tanzania and many countries will follow soon. Mi Band 5 to Get Camera Controller & New Fitness Activities
The next Mi Band 5 is a huge deal to the company & we can see that with the numbers of added features on it. Last week we leaked a few exclusive features of Mi Band 5. Now, we have a few more features to share. Another function we find out is the camera controller on Band 5. Second, there are now five more activities for fitness-centric users. Also, the tracker will now supportive of the analog watch faces as well as World Clock for travelers.
Camera Controller is the feature that many users were thinking of getting with Mi band 4, but the company never launched it. This time with Mi Band 5, users can control their phone’s camera to take the picture, get the group photo, or to switch front or rear cameras. Mi Band 5 Will Have SpO2, Alexa & Menstrual Cycle Functions
With the help of its subsidiary company Huami, Xiaomi will release its next-generation Mi band 5 in China at the end of next month or in the first half of July. As far we know, Mi Band 5 will have a larger display, more features, and NFC on the global version. Furthermore, our member has found out that the next Mi band 5 will have SpO2 or blood oxygen saturation, Amazon Alexa & Women cycle features. These three features will make the tracker more advanced compared to Mi Band 4.
Apart from that, for fitness-centric users there is a Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI) function. It’s a scientifically-backed metric that turns heart rate data into a single, personal score, showing users how much activity they need to stay healthy. For your daily activity it gives you score and tells you how much you need to sweet to stay fit.

Now talking about the global version of the fifth-gen tracker, Mi Smart Band 5 is also in work, and it may soon get the release date. As the information we received, the model number XMSH11HM is specified for Mi Smart Band 5. It makes sense that the model number for Mi Band 5 is XMSH10HM. Every year company launches different Mi Band models for global users by compromising some features, though this year there won’t be much difference.

Now as per the new information from our source NFC would only be limited to China. It means users have to wait for another year to get the NFC version. The tracker will also be helpful for women users that they can now track their monthly cycles using the Mi Band 5 & Mi Smart Band 5.
Mi Band 5 Activities
For now, it is the only information our member has received about the upcoming tracker. The company always first launch Mi Bands in China and later in other countries. That means the company may launch Smart Band 5 in August or in early September in major countries like India and the US. Due to the lockdown and limited employees, we could see a delay in the Mi Band 5 launch.
As per the previous information, the company supposed to announce it in the first week of June but now the company has postponed it. It still has to receive a Bluetooth certificate from SIG, so we think the launch date might be delayed to the last week of June or in the first week of July.
All the images are taken from the official app so the quality is not that good, but in the future will try to post better images. Galaxy S20 Update Improves Short-range Focus, Fingerprint & Sound Quality
Samsung is rolling out the latest firmware update for Galaxy S20, S20+ & S20 Ultra smartphones to encounter several issues of camera. It is the second update that delivers May security patch and another attempt of firmware to improve the camera quality. The first major improvement is that the autofocus is now much faster than before. When you move the camera to object, then autofocus adjusts much faster without delay so that you won’t get any blur images. As per the users, it is faster when you tap in the middle compare to sides.
Now with the Galaxy S20 Ultra, users can take closer images without any blurry shots. Previously, when most of the customers complained about the close-up pictures in between 10cm are getting blurry shots, then the moderator had told it would not fix by software updates. The Close-Up Zoom function is only available for Galaxy S20 Ultra. TikTok & YouTube Apps Flooded with 1-Star Reviews in India
The roasting battle of TikTok Vs YouTube has now taken another turn in India between both sides of users. Now both TikTok & YouTube users are giving 1-star reviews to each other’s app in the Play Store. It happens when YouTube decided to delete the viral video of Carry Minati YouTube vs TikTok – The End in which he roasted TikTok. It is started when some YouTubers roasted TikTokers about their content creations. Then after that, TikTokers did also the same to defend themselves & to roast YouTubers. It became more rival when the famous YouTuber Carry Minati posted a video to roast in its own style. The video became so viral in India that it broke many records within the first week.
Many users liked this video and when it got deleted it was seen by 74 million users in 7 days. After complaints from TikTok users, YouTube took action against the video & turned it down. In the deletion of video, the YouTube official said it is against the privacy policy and the video was violating the terms & conditions. It is the reason, Carry Minati’s followers are flooded with 1-star reviews on the TikTok app in the Play Store. If you look at the newest reviews for the app in Play Store then you will notice all the users are angry because of the video which was taken down & now they blame TikTok for this.
The irony is that the same users are also blaming YouTube for not defending Carry Minati when he is on YouTube side in the YouTube Vs TikTok battle. The support for Carry Minati is also trending on Twitter & Instagram with #justiceforcarry hashtag, which on top since this today morning. Also, the support is growing too much that on Facebook & YouTube you will see posts & videos that recommend to delete the TikTok from your device & give it a 1-star review.
Update (18/05): The war between YouTube & TikTok users are not going to stop anytime soon. In the support of Carry Minati, now many famous YouTubers are deleting TikTok app from their phones and requesting users to do the same. India’s most famous YouTube channels like Technical Guruji, BB ke Vines, Elvish Yadav and many more are requesting users uninstall the app. Technical Guruji which is most famous Tech channel in India has made a special video, where he uninstalls the app from all his smartphones.
Now many users have uninstalled the app and gave 1-star reviews to the app. As we checked on Friday, the TikTok rating was 4.5-star in the Play Store, but now it decreases to 3.2-star ratings. The TikTok Lite which was enjoying 4.6-star ratings is now came down to 2.1-star. In the wave, more than one million users have rated to the app in the last three days. In India, many times TikTok ratings was decreased due to nationalism but this time it happened because of users of TikTok & YouTube & their rivalry.

Gear S3 & Gear Sport Now Receiving Active 2 Features
The older smartwatches from Samsung, Gear S3 & Gear Sport, are now receiving Galaxy Watch Active 2 features. The update has previously dispatched to Galaxy Watch & Watch Active. Gear S3 is the flagship watch of 2016 & Gear Sport is from 2017, and now in the latest updates, the company is making them more advanced. Samsung has now launched Bixby on both the devices as a voice assistant service. The company has already declared its previous S Voice service will no longer active from June 1st so that the Bixby will take place. With the new voice assistant, users can set a goal & start workout routines and tell the time difference between two cities.
Samsung has added various emoticons that can set different skin colors to the screen. The Progress Indicator will allow you to open the previous app. It is helpful when you are using an exercise record and leaves it to go to the other section; then, by just tapping on the Progress indicator, you can re-open the app. Samsung Health has received new Lap time recording for running & cycling sessions. Also, users can see daily activity information & automatic swim detection in Samsung Health. Along with it, the update has improved Power Saving Mode, Always-on Display, timer & stopwatch for enhanced results.
The arrangement of icons on the quick panel has now changed for more effortless customization. Overall, Samsung has improvised these older smartwatches by giving Active 2 features & improvements to the existing functions. The firmware version R76*XXU2FTD4 released for Gear S3 Classic & frontier and the version R600XXU1CTD3 is for Gear Sport. The update is currently rolling out in Samsung’s home country & the US. Mi Band 5 to Get PAI Function for Improved Health Tracking
Mi Band 5 will be released this year with some enhanced features along with the larger display. As we are getting closer to the launch date, which could happen in next June, more details are getting out. At this point, we know that the next Mi Band will get a larger display than the Mi Band 4 & the NFC support for global units. The leaker Slashleak has also revealed the possible punch hole display for the tracker. Now we have more details to share about the upcoming fitness tracker. We have received new information about the Mi Band 5 that the PAI function will come with the tracker.
You can see the new PAI function in the shared image of the Mi Fit app. The PAI function has added to the item in Band display settings. The MI Band 4 doesn’t have this feature, so inevitably, the company is going to introduce it to the next fitness tracker. The PAI function is not new to the company, Huami has released this feature on its Amazfit smartwatches. The PAI may replace the steps count on the Mi Band 5, and instead, it will get the help of heart rate data as an indicator of personal activity. PAI will help you better to know your health condition and act on it.
The HUNT Fitness Study project has shown that the people who keep their PAI value above 100 have a lower risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes. The PAI will not be Mi Band 5 exclusive for a long time, the company will later release the function on Mi Band 4, and possibly on Mi Band 3. As per the sources, the next Band 5 would launch in June with the expected price of 179 Yuan. Though, the price could be much higher in other countries. Google’s Wearable OS Renamed as Wear OS by Google Smartwatch
In the past Google has changed the name of its wearable OS from the Android Wear to Wear OS by Google. Now, again Wear OS by Google is renamed as Wear OS by Google Smartwatch. It indicates that probably Google is planning to launch its own smartwatch series. The official app and the website have also now changed to the new name. Last year, Google also purchased Fitbit and it is highly likely that the company’s next watch will be launched through Google platform. There are several brands like Mobvoi, Misfit, LG, and Fossil which use Wear OS platform. But, the change in designation is a significant step which indicates that Google is stepping ahead to announce its own smartwatch lineup.
Google is working to make Wear OS smartwatch smarter, more fitness-oriented and compatible with iPhone. Upcoming Google Wear OS smartwatch device will come with innovative and user-friendly features. Google Assistant helps users to make the watch a more proactive device and carry out several tasks conveniently. Also, it is expected that the features like Google Maps and smart run track integrated with smart Google Assistant help to do activities proactively.
Google aims at proactive health and fitness assistant Google Coach to analyze fitness data and provide accurate statistics and recommendations. Mi Band 4 Update Allows to Rate Watch Faces & Share Heart Rate Data
When there is a news about Mi band 4C in the industry, Xiaomi is making sure the older trackers won’t stay behind. In that luckily, Mi Band 4 is worshiped with continuously receiving the latest updates with few significant changes. This time the Mi band 4 is receiving V1.0.9.48 that comes with the Activity heart rate sharing feature. Along with this change, there is now a redesigned Band Display Settings section in the Mi Fit app after the new app version V1.1.0. Second, the company allows you to rate the watch faces in the store so the developers should know which one is favorite, and which one should need some work.
The Activity heart rate tracking is not new to the Mi Band 4, since the Band 3 it is available for users. Though, after the launch of Band 4, the company removed it from the fitness tracker without giving any proper reason. Now, version V1.0.9.48 has brought it back. With the feature that appeared in Mi Fit app, you can share your heart rate data with other smart devices. When you enable the function, then with Bluetooth pairing, the band shares data with smartphones, smart devices, and also with apps like Apple Health. It is also helpful to share your heart rate report with your personal doctor.
Coming back to Band display settings, it has now categorized in a neat design. First, you will find your best watch faces in a particular category. Also, you can store watch face in the favorite section for later usage, and finally, you can rate the watch face from 1 to 5 value. The update is now live in India & Vietnam soon will enter in other regions. To get the latest version, you have to upgrade the Mi Fit app to the V1.1.0 version from the Play Store & iOS App Store. After the laptop unlocks update, it is another update in April that brings some changes to the app & tracker.

New Galaxy Buds Update Brings Buds+ Features
Samsung always releases some exclusive features to its newly launched devices. Either it is Galaxy S20, Galaxy Z Flip, or Galaxy Buds+, all the devices received some never seen before functions on Galaxy devices. And later, after a few weeks pass, Samsung brings those features to the older models. The firmware fully loaded with features of Galaxy S20 recently came to the Galaxy S10 & Note 10 series. Now the company is doing the same with Galaxy Buds. The latest software update is now bringing exclusive functions of Galaxy Buds+ to the previous Galaxy Buds.
The firmware version R170XXU0ATD2 is now rolling out for Galaxy Buds that download 1.39MB in size. After the update, users can pair their Buds with the laptops more efficiently, thanks to Microsoft’s Swift pair. The PC running on Windows 10, version 1803, will automatically detect your Buds. Software Updates Won’t Solve Some Galaxy S20 Ultra Camera Issues
Since the launching of Galaxy S20 Ultra, the smartphone is facing some issues with the camera performance. In the beginning, it had severe autofocus issues, which was later fixed by a software update. If I am not wrong, then all the firmware updates released by Samsung were to fix camera related problems. Samsung is releasing new firmware every month, but it looks like there are still performance issues with the camera. Now some users are facing short distance focus, which captures blurry images when users try to take pictures closer than 10cm.
Samsung’s Galaxy S20, S20+ & Galaxy S20 Ultra smartphones have the industry’s one of the best camera sensors, but still few issues should be solved. When many customers in South Korea asked for a new software update to fix the short distance focus issue, then Camera Moderator & and later Camera Manager answered that the lens of S20 Ultra is designed to take images of objects longer than 10cm. When you take pictures closer than that, then the background may be blurred. Here is the translation of Camera Moderator:
“First of all, we are sorry for the confusion about the use. The S20 Ultra model is equipped with a high-pixel image sensor, which increases the size of the sensor, resulting in a shallow depth of field and a longer focal length of 10cm or more compared to previous Samsung models. Therefore, when shooting a close object, the background may be blurred, or out of focus may occur. The focal length is determined by the lens specifications, making it difficult to correct with software. We apologize for not being able to fully explain the focal length in advance. Thank you.”
Many users are really unhappy with this. In everyday usage, users have to take pictures of closer objects like ID cards, documents, or other files. When reviewers spotted an issue with the camera autofocus function of S20 Ultra, then Samsung promised to enhance the camera performance by releasing new firmware. Still, now it looks like some issues are will not be fixed by software updates.
