By halting the 8.35 version, Garmin is now releasing a stable 8.37 software update for Epix 2. The reason behind the sudden decision of stopping the previous update is unclear, but it company requested to install a new version. In the latest 8.37 software update, Garmin Epix 2 gets all the features and changes that came with the previous version. Besides, Garmin may have fixed some known bugs to enhance the performance.
The major reason behind new firmware is could be a battery drain issue. Many users since the last few versions complained about poor battery life on both Fenix 7 series & Epix Gen 2 watches. It could have been solved to get normal battery life as before.
Garmin has already solved an audio quality issue that occurred in pre-installed software. That issue never rose again on both watches. The multiple issues with Connect IQ app also have been solved with its newer version.
The company has specifically mentioned that it has fixed the issue with Connect IQ app on Epix 2. Further, it mentioned fixing the problem with the pulse Ox history graph. We never know if there is a problem with the previous information, though it is better if Garmin has taken care of it.
The changelog further mentions that the issue causing users to receive poor cycling VO2 max and performance conditions estimates has been fixed. All the remaining changelog is the same as before. The software update is now rolling for the first 10% of Epix 2 users.
