  • WhatsApp, Instagram & Facebook Removed from Tizen Store

WhatsApp, Instagram & Facebook Removed from Tizen Store

This month, after the shutdown of the Tizen Community website and the Community app, now one more shocking news came for Tizen users. Facebook has finally removed all its apps from the Tizen Store. The popular apps WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger are now discontinued from the Tizen Store. Since the last June, Facebook had been sending messages to the users about the termination, and finally today that day arrived. Samsung has stopped making Tizen phones since 2017, and the last model in the market was Samsung Z4.

For five consecutive years, WhatsApp was the number one app in the Tizen Store by the usage and by the most downloads. The other famous social media app Line had already step back from the Tizen phones, so WhatsApp was the only medium for users to chat or make video calls with their friends.

I have posted a video on why WhatsApp, Facebook & Instagram removed from Tizen Store. Watch the video.

Also, the other social media apps Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger were in the top downloading apps, but now no longer serve the users. Unlike the ACL apps, these were launched by Facebook, and they received regular updates since the beginning.

The decision behind the termination is the lack of new Tizen smartphones in the market. Also, the devices which have been launched in the market is now more than 3 years old. The Samsung Z2 & Samsung Z4 are the most popular Tizen phones in the market. Still, many users in India, Bangladesh & South Africa are using these devices, and today we have received too many emails and messages from users about the situation. Many customers demand that Samsung or Facebook must bring all these apps on the Tizen, but looks like that may not happen.

Here is the major part from the conversation.

As mentioned before, it appears that abnormal sleep data is stored in the mobile samsung health due to some reason. Has been confirmed. It will be updated later so that there is no problem with abnormal data processing in the watch. It is necessary to further determine the cause of the abnormal sleep data recorded, but it seems that the problem will be solved by deleting the sleep record from mobile Samsung Health right away. Delete the last sleep data recorded through the watch in mobile samsung health and try again.

Apart from that, this second firmware version improves the battery life of the Galaxy Watch 3 to run it last longer. It is always good to have extra juice in the battery, so you could forget the charger for a while.

Now, the new revealing from the customer representative at Samsung South Korea, some Galaxy A series of smartphones may also get the same treatment. When the customer asked about his Galaxy A90 to whether the smartphone will get 3 years of Android OS updates, the executive answered with a possible answer.

In the answer, the representative clearly mentions the upper mid-range or high-end Galaxy A series of smartphones released after Galaxy S10 is under additional reviews. Further, he said, the company is checking hardware specs and resources of these devices to come to a final thought. Once the company decides, it will publish the news on the Samsung Member app. There are also chances for high-end tablets to get 3-year support, as they have also launched with top-notch hardware specs.

    Samsung Android OS Updates

Here is the important translation from the screenshot.

Please note that, unfortunately, the previous release models Galaxy S9, Note9, A series and tablet products are not applicable, as hardware specifications and resources are considered. High-end A series and tablet products released after the S10 are under additional review, and detailed OS upgrade policies will be announced later by checking hardware specifications and resources. Please refer to the Samsung Members app announcement, Samsung Electronics’ official channel.

Samsung has already declared that the Galaxy Note 9 & Galaxy S9 and the previous flagship or Galaxy A series devices will not get major updates. Even there is less possibility that the Galaxy S9 & Note 9 will receive One UI 2.5 version. Now we have to see what Samsung makes in the final decision about the high-end Galaxy A series. If this happens, the Galaxy A90, Galaxy A80, Galaxy A71, and their 5G variants will surely get the 3-years support.

  • Samsung Activates ECG on Galaxy Watch Active 2

Samsung Activates ECG on Galaxy Watch Active 2

Samsung has finally activated ECG or Electrocardiogram feature on Galaxy Watch Active 2. For now, South Korea is the only country where the users can use it, as the company has got green signal. It may be the marketing strategy of Samsung to enable the function right after the launching of Galaxy Watch 3. Samsung was previously promised to release the function in the first of this year, but later postponed it. Due to the lack of permission from the authorities it delayed again, but in May it received necessary certificate from the MFDS, so finally Samsung opened this function for Active 2 users, at least in the home country. Users need to download & install Samsung Health Monitor app on the watch & on the paired smartphone to use it.

On the Galaxy Watch Active 2, the ECG function will tell you about Atrial Fibrillation or AFib & Sinus rhythm. It gives Sinus rhythm when there is nothing wrong, and it gives results of Atrial Fibrillation when the heart rates is more than usual. There are also two more outputs, Judgement failure & Signal failure, when the measurement is wrong or value is incorrect, respectively, so users won’t panic. The use of ECG is very simple. Wear the Galaxy Watch Active 2 tightly on your wrist. Open the Samsung Health Monitor app, tap on ECG tab & press Measurement. It will take 30 seconds to give the output. After that, you can check the results on the watch or on smartphone.

SpO2 on Galaxy Watch Active 2

Samsung has already said that, don’t get any treatment based on this function. You better visit the doctor, if you found anything unusual. It warned it could be dangerous to take medicines by only getting the ECG results. The Users in the US may also get the feature soon, as Samsung received certification from FDA to release ECG function on Galaxy Watch 3 & Galaxy Watch Active 2. Apple’s two premium watches Apple Watch Series 4 & Series 5 has this feature for the US users, and now Samsung’s two watches will join the club. It is not a software update, the users in South Korea can just go to the app and will find ECG tab is enabled for use.

  • Galaxy Watch Active 2 ECG Update may be Delayed Again

Galaxy Watch Active 2 ECG Update may be Delayed Again

There are many users in various countries that want to receive ECG function on Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Active 2. The smartwatch is near to complete its first year and still, there is no sign of the update. The only good news came from Samsung was in May, when the company certified to launch ECG on the Active 2. Now, when eagerly waited customers asked Samsung customer representatives then they got the answer which is not in favor of customers. The official said the ECG function may implement with My BP app, the third-party app, and very few markets like the US, Uk, Australia & Canada will receive the app update.

It means there may be another delay from the company to introduce Electrocardiogram on the Galaxy Watch Active 2 at any time soon. Also, Samsung still has to get certified in other countries to launch the function, so the update release may take more than usual time. Here is the statement from Samsung customer representative (translated from German). The answer is for German & Austrian customers, but still, there is uncertainty about the other markets too.

“The functions of ECGs and blood pressure measurement can be implemented via the My BP Lab app, but so far these are only available in other countries such as the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, and others. There are no plans to introduce these functions on the German market at the moment.”

Global Mi Band 5 Spotted with Alexa, SpO2 & NFC Support

In last month, we have revealed that the Mi Band 5 will get NFC support in the global market. Further, we also mentioned the SpO2 & Amazon Alexa functions for the international version. Now the leaked resource file for Mi Band 5 has confirmed all of these functions. Xiaomi has unpacked Mi Band 5 in China on June 11, but the SpO2 & Amazon Alexa features were missing from the tracker. Now, these functions will be exclusively launching on global versions rather than the home version.

It will be the first time Mi Band series will receive SpO2 or blood monitoring along with Women’s heath tool & PAI functions. After the launch of SpO2, it will compete with Honor Band 5, Huawei band 4 Pro & Fitbit Charge 4 which has the blood oxygen monitoring. Also, the resource file shows the images of Mastercard, which is the first partner to pay with Band 5 in many places.

In other countries, Mi Band 5 will launch in July and Europe would be the first market. Recently, the fitness tracker has cleared BIS certification in India, so the Indian launch maybe also near. In the more twist, the recently leaked source code has mentioned there would be three models – Mi Band L, Mi Band 5 Pro & Mi Band 5 Lite. If that is true then, then it is unclear, which model will get SpO2, Alexa, and NFC versions on the board.
